Swim Lessons

It's been 4 weeks since Miss T started on her swimming lesson. Actually, at her age, it's more like playing in the water with Dad. We mainly just wanted her to get used to the water and not afraid of it (like her mom!) In just a few weeks, we could already tell that she's getting more used to it. Well, as long as you don't get water on her face anyways. =)

Talise Updates

- Total of 6 teeth, 4 on top and 2 on the bottom.
- Pull herself up very easily; possibly stand for a few second letting go
- Tends to forget that she have yet to learn how to stand by herself, so everytime she gets excited and claps, she fell
- Just learned how to high-five
- Learning to blow kisses (only when she's in really good mood)
- Thinks that video game and DVD boxes should only be on the ground; wonders why her parents keep putting them on the shelves
- Papers are good eats
- More and more solids; level 3 baby food still, nothing too chunky; Cherrios, sweet potato puffs, cheese, beans are her current finger foods; Greek yogurt is still her favorite thing to eat
- Starting to not just stare at the sippy cup and actually drinks a little from it
- Started swim class with Dad two weeks ago
- Can say "mama" and "dada"; actually understand who's who
- Slowly (I do mean slowly) she's sleeping in longer stretches at night, sometimes even sleeps in the crib all night!
- Still not interested in naps at daycare, too busy socializing I guess

Miss T's Closet

I think I have an addiction to baby clothes. I can't pass up cute baby clothes, especially if they are on sale. I could somewhat justify it a little (just a little) that we put off laundry as long as possible so we need a lot of clothes for her. Most of her clothes are from Old Navy. I don't pay shipping there, so I order stuff whenever there's a good sale. We love the clothes from Pumpkin Patch and Baby Phat as well. Yes, Baby Phat. A baby needs her bling too and she loves to look at all the sparkles on her clothes. In short, she has a way better closet than her parents and we're having a lot of fun playing dress up with her. I'm sure most parents will agree with that statement.

Windy day

I knew it had been raining last night and heard the wind. But I was not prepared for how strong the wind was. When I got out to the living room and really heard the wind, my first thought was, darn it, I'll have to hunt down the garbage can outside. Luckily, we only lost the lid to the garbage can (no hope of finding it thought). The damage was done to others though as garbage, recycles, garbage and recycling bins are everywhere. See, of those of you that haven't visited us before, we live on top of a hill connected to the San Bruno Mountains. There is no way to hide from the wind. Anyways, I made my way to work, driving about 10 mph less than the speed limit the whole way. At 8:30, Chris called me. That's when he drop off Miss T and he usually call me then. First thing out of his mouth, "Can you come home?" I never knew that so many different worst case possibilities can go through my head within the seconds that it took me to ask what's wrong. Power was out at the daycare center and they're close for the day. Chris' been sick so he's in no condition to look after Miss T all day. Did I mention that I have a really understanding manager? I ended up waiting until 10:30 before I left so I won't be stuck in the morning commute going into the city. The drive was still interesting to say the least. My car was definitely getting blown around on the bridge. Thank goodness we don't have storms like this all the time. I guess the good thing is that we get to spend more time with Miss T. (By the way, she has become quite the chatter box lately. We're stilling working on decoding what she's saying though...)

New Year Resolutions

1. Eat better
My problem is that I don't always eat food that I like. Part of that is laziness, since I usually like the food that I cook, just don't always have time to do. So I end up eating out and a lot of times, especially lunch I get while at work, it's just not tasty. Sure, I would like my diet to be healthier. And no, I'm not saying that everything have to be low-fat. I'm just saying that I would like to cut out as much of the processed stuff as possible. There are things that I'm already avoiding, but would like to maybe test out buying more organic, naturally raised meat and seafood. It's hard, I'm Chinese after all and raised to pay as little for things as possible. We'll see how this goes.

2. Attempt to fit exercise in schedule somehow
Now, my alarm clock is set for half an hour earlier than I need to wake up during the week. This came from when I still need to pump in the morning. I left it at that time so I could at least get some stretches in during the day. Can't say it happened yet. But I'm still aiming for it. Maybe Wii fitness will help when it comes out. =)

3. Get a physical
I haven't had a physical for at least a good 6-7 years. OB/GYN is a different story since I did just had a child last year. I'm sure there are more things to check now that I'm past 30 too. Of course, the thing I should put down as well is that I need to find a doctor. Ever since my work dropped Kaiser 2 years ago, I still have not decided on a regular doctor. I think it's time to get one.

4. Focus on better, but less stuff
Food fit in here. But I need to do that with the rest of the stuff I take home. Like I said before, it's really hard to pass up a good deal when you're raise to do the opposite. I'm learning and it's definitely a process. At least I tried to go through my closet at least twice a year and set clothes aside for donation/trash. I make use of the library to curb my books buying habit. I cut down my magazine subscriptions to less than 5. (Hey, it was like 10+ at one point!) Working on the clothes, but that's a different issue I'll address at a later time.

5. Learn to appreciate the little things/live in the moment
This one is from Miss T. Baby do grow up fast. She's learning everything so quickly and it's cool to see her clap or crawl the first time. She can't even pull herself up a month ago, and now she's getting her hands on everything. I take a crazy amount of pictures of her and now there are videos as well. But nothing beats the actual moment when it's happening.
